Port Loring Travel Guide
Welcome to Port Loring!
Tucked into Ontario—s Almaguin Highlands Rainbow Country region, the community of Port Loring is a sparsely populated full-service town amidst the stunning natural beauty of the Canadian Shield. A high level of community spirit and connection to the environment can be sensed in the town, as most residents pursue some form of year-round outdoor recreation. Unparalleled experiences in the region include fishing on the more than 30 surrounding freshwater lakes, hunting amongst Ontario—s largest population of white-tailed deer, or snowmobiling on more than 320 km (nearly 200 mi) of groomed trails. Algonquin Park is located about 60 km (38 mi) east of Port Loring; it is the largest and oldest National Park in Ontario.
Roughly equidistant from Parry Sound to the south and North Bay to the northeast, the town can be found within 65 km (40 mi) from either city centre. Nearby are several small communities. Residents and visitors gather at the annual Kearney Dog Sled Races held each February for organized races on groomed snowmobile trails and family-inspired winter events.
